A Legacy of Law

 Founded in 1982

We must first highlight the person who started it all! Our Dad, Kenneth M Johnson, graduated law school from UNC-Chapel Hill and began practicing law in 1974 with Attorneys Herman Taylor and Leroy Upperman. He then went on to practice with Attorney J. Kenneth Lee, civil rights activist and pioneer, and Attorneys Joseph Williams and Michael Lee. The partnership of “Lee, Johnson, and Williams” was formed from this practice. In 1982, Kenneth M. Johnson P.A. was established as a solo practice. He then partnered with two other solo Black firms, Joseph Williams P.A. and Bruce Lee P.A., to purchase the building located at 701 East Market Street in Greensboro, NC. This building was originally owned by American Federal Savings and Loan, the 1 st Black Mortgage Bank in NC.

Years later, we both joined the practice to complete the family firm. Kya Johnson joined in 2004 followed by Ryen J. Perry in 2010. We have assisted clients in the areas of personal injury, bankruptcy, social security disability, workers compensation, estates, and uncontested divorce.

We are honored that our Father still practices alongside us to this day in the building owned and operated solely by the law firm of Kenneth M. Johnson P.A. In 2024, we decided to highlight the practice areas we do within Kenneth M. Johnson P.A. as sisters, thus 2SistersInLaw was created.
